The Curragh Racecourse will honour the memory of Vincent O’Brien with the inaugural running of the Vincent O’Brien National Stakes on Saturday, September 12, it was announced today.

Legendary jockey Lester Piggott last night led the tributes to the training genius of Vincent O’Brien, who died on Monday morning at the age of 92.

Vincent O’Brien, perhaps the greatest trainer of all time, died earlier today, aged 92, at his home in Straffan, Co Kildare.
