The ESB has been fined €250,000 after a 22-year-old apprentice electrician was killed when he became confused about which part of the equipment he was working on was live.

The ESB will be sentenced in March in relation to a work place incident which led to the death of an employee.

The ESB has pleaded guilty to failing in its duty to ensure the safety of an apprentice electrician who died carrying out work at a substation in Dublin.
