Fine Gael Senator Jim Higgins has been told he must hand over the source of allegations he received against gardaí in Co Donegal.

The Morris Tribunal will today examine whether politicians should be able to keep their sources of information private.

The Morris Tribunal will hear legal arguments on the issue of privilege for TDs and senators next week.

The Dáil and the Seanad are both expected to seek legal representation at the Morris Tribunal later today in an effort to protect the privilege enjoyed by sitting TDs and Senators.
