TRAIN services in Cork could be severely disrupted yet again in the coming days after two drivers were removed from the payroll.

TALKS on the Bank of Ireland’s new hybrid pension scheme intensified this week as management and trade unions attempted to forge final agreement after months of discussions under the auspices of Tom Pomphrett of the Labour Relations Commission.

Tom Pomphrett, deputy director of the LRC, said he hoped the outstanding issue in the postal dispute would be resolved today.

SECONDARY school principals are hoping the ASTI will take the incentive of a deal finalised with the other two teachers’ unions and return to supervision and substitution duties.

A BREAKTHROUGH in talks between teachers and the Department of Education on payment for supervision and substitution is expected in the next few days, union sources said yesterday.
