Beaumont Hospital in Dublin has cancelled all non-essential surgery today in an effort to ease overcrowding in the hospitals accident and emergency department.

The Irish Nurses Organisation claim members have warned management at Beaumont Hospital that a crisis could develop if more beds are not provided.
