IRELAND will have three boxers in semi-final action at today’s European Championships in Liverpool after big quarter-final wins for Olympic light welterweight John Joe Joyce and debutant Eamon O’Kane last night.

Irish middleweight Eamon O'Kane joined John Joe Joyce and Ross Hickey in the semi finals of the 37th European Senior Championships after recording a deserved win over Andranik Hakoyban in Liverpool tonight.

DAVID OLIVER JOYCE, his cousin John Joe Joyce, Belfast middleweight, Eamonn O’Kane and 20-year-old Clonmel heavyweight Con Sheehan will all be battling for medals and semi-final places at the European Boxing Championships in Liverpool today.

The fifth European Union Boxing Championships resume at the National Stadium in Dublin today with twenty quarter-final bouts down to be decided over the course of two sessions beginning at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
