A major row has broken out between Turkey and the Netherlands.

Turkey has dismissed 1,400 more members of its armed forces and stacked the top military council with government ministers. This is designed by President Tayyip Erdogan to put him in full control of the military after a failed coup.

German chancellor Angela Merkel said she was not worried about the fate of a migrant pact between the EU and Turkey, but said more time was needed to overcome differences with Ankara over visa-free travel for Turks.
