Judges should be “compelled” to spend time in rape crisis centres to learn about sexual violence and the impact on victims, a new survivors group has said.

The Government has asked a leading barrister to review official files on the death of a baby girl whose body was found in Dun Laoghaire 34 years ago.

Minister for Justice Michael McDowell today revealed he has demanded a full report from An Garda Síochána into its handling of the investigation into the death of a baby girl found stabbed to death in Dun Laoghaire in 1973.

The jury at the Dun Laoghaire baby inquest has found that the infant girl, found in a plastic bag in a laneway over thirty years ago, was Noleen Murphy, the daughter of Cynthia Owen.
