RTÉ has gained an upper hand over its main rivals in the battle of the airwaves, according to the latest Joint National Listenership Research figures.

RTÉ’s managing director of radio, Adrian Moynes, declared on Morning Ireland (June 6) that the proposed new arts programme presented by Dave Fanning on the revamped Radio 1 would be about “such things” as painting, sculpture and plays.

RTÉ Radio 1 has emerged as the clear loser in the latest Joint National Listenership Research figures which showed all the station’s main programmes dropping audience numbers.
