The Irish Osteoporosis Society says one in three women over the age of 50 is likely to break a bone in her lifetime due to osteoporosis.

One in eight men is likely to develop an oesteoprotic-related fracture at some stage of their life, according to the president of the Irish osteoporosis society, Professor Moira O'Brien.
