Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s trip and planned speech at the United Nations Security Council in New York today has been cancelled, a foreign ministry spokesman said.

Iran’s president said that UN sanctions imposed over its nuclear programme would not damage the country, and vowed to press ahead with uranium enrichment.
