Japanese carmaker Nissan has restarted its plant in Egypt, shut down for two weeks because of massive protests, a company spokesman said.

Nissan said today it is recalling 2.14 million vehicles in the US, Japan, Europe and Asia, including the popular March and Micra, over an ignition problem that may stall the engine.

Nissan Motor Co said it is recalling more than 345,000 vehicles in Japan and abroad due to faulty brakes and fuel gauges.
