The former Fianna Fáil Government Minister of State Ivor Callely remains in Garda custody this morning.

The Government has accepted the resignation of Minister of State Ivor Callely, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern told the Dáil this morning.

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will today ask embattled Minister of State Ivor Callely to resign or he will dismiss him from the Government.

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern today told the Dáil he was not impressed with allegations that a contractor had paid for work to be carried out on the home of embattled Minister of State Ivor Callely.
