A car exploded outside the Russian military’s headquarters in South Ossetia today, killing seven people and wounding three, the government of the Moscow-backed separatist region said.

Forces in South Ossetia shot down an unmanned Georgian spy plane, the interior minister of the separatist-held region said today.

Russian forces have pulled back from the centre of a town near Georgia’s capital after Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a ceasefire deal today.
