A Polish man has escaped jail after admitting to driving his car off a cross-river ferry in Cork, killing his friend.

A 38-year-old Polish motorist will be sentenced today for the manslaughter of another man who drowned when his car left the cross-river ferry in Cork Harbour.

NAVAL divers have recovered a Volkswagen Polo car which plunged off a cross-river ferry nine months ago, with the presumed loss of a man’s life.

GARDAÍ are appealing for volunteers to help them search for a missing Polish man who is presumed to have drowned following an accident on a ferry.
