Seven hundred Burren farmers are seeking a multimillion-euro annual windfall to create a pristine environment containing rare and wild flowers.

PAYMENTS totalling almost €300,000 have been approved for Burren farmers for producing rare and wild flowers as part of a new Government scheme.

A woman’s claim that she and her family were deprived of a €1.5m farm inheritance as a result of fatal medical negligence has been described in the High Court as "entirely novel".

FARMING is set to play a key role in conserving the unique landscape, biodiversity and archaeology of the Burren in Co Clare for future generations.
