Tony Adams has agreed a new one-year deal to stay with FA Cup winners Portsmouth as assistant manager.

RANGERS boss Walter Smith maintained he never felt his team were out of the running in their UEFA Cup tie despite relying on Nacho Novo’s dramatic 81st-minute equaliser to secure an away goals victory over Panathinaikos in Athens last night.

RANGERS’ hopes of progressing to the last 16 of the UEFA cup were dented last night after being held to a goalless draw by Panathinaikos at Ibrox.
