Lawyers acting for British Home Secretary David Blunkett intend to lodge a legal action against Humberside Police Authority today in the latest stage of a power struggle over the future of Chief Constable David Westwood.

Calls were made today for an overhaul of the system for checking the backgrounds of people working with children.
