AN infant girl born with a second head bled to death on Saturday following complex surgery in which doctors removed the partly formed twin that had threatened her brain, her parents and doctors said.

A team of surgeons made final preparations today to operate on a Dominican infant born with a second head, a risky surgery that doctors say they believe to be the first of its kind.

THE formerly conjoined twin sisters from Guatemala who were surgically separated in early August may return home as early as next month, Los Angeles hospital officials said yesterday.

One-year-old Guatemalan twins joined at the head were separated in a marathon operation in Los Angeles - but one sister was returned to surgery a few hours later because of bleeding on her brain.

One of the two Guatemalan Siamese twins who were separated today was later rushed back into the operating theatre.
