MIKE FRANK RUSSELL has opted out of Kerry’s Championship plans for the rest of the season, all but bringing to an end an inter-county career which produced five All-Ireland senior medals with the Kingdom.

AQUILA, a five-year-old mare by Quiletto out of a Mr Lord mare, bred by Paul and Jan Turfery, Caheragh, owned by Brian Mangan, Fermoy, and ridden by Rose Marie Ahern, Carhue, Bandon, dominated the hunter classes at Clonakilty Show.

FORMER Wexford great George O’Connor will not contest the race to replace John Conran as manager of the county senior hurling side.
