Galway’s club sides made a strong start to the weekend for the hurlers of the West with four of the six All-Ireland 7s/11s titles going to the Tribesmen on Saturday.

Galway clubs paved the way for the Seniors tomorrow when taking four of the six All-Ireland Sevens/Elevens titles on offer this afternoon.

THERE was a controversial finish to the second of the Galway SHC semi-finals at Kenny Park, Athenry, with referee Christy Helebert requiring a Garda escort at the end of a heated encounter.

Niall Healy, the Galway seniors' three-goal hero against Kilkenny last weekend, has been included in the county's Under-21 line-up for tomorrow's All-Ireland U-21 hurling semi-final against Cork.
