A CORK nursing home has been heavily criticised by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) over its failure to comply with legislation and quality standards governing residential centres for the elderly.

IN your report headlined ‘Nursing homes plan to aid city’s hospital bed shortages’ (Irish Examiner, February 10), it was stated that many elderly people who require long-term care have difficulty finding suitable nursing homes.

YOUR feature on nursing homes, headlined ‘No end to an age-old problem’ (Irish Examiner, May 29), proves there is no end to the age-old problem in journalism — never let the facts get in the way of a good story, and particularly a bad story.
