Ahmed and Mohamed Ibrahim arrived in the US more than three years ago as babies joined at the tops of their heads. Tomorrow, the four-year-olds will return home to Egypt as two boys living independent lives.

Two-year-old twin boys from Egypt who had been joined at the head spent their first night apart after 34-hour separation surgery and a doctor said today they were “in good shape.”

Two-year-old Egyptian twins joined at the top of their heads were successfully separated by doctors in the US, but face a long recovery after a marathon surgery lasting 26 hours.

After more than a year of preparation, a team of 18 doctors today began the delicate surgery to separate two-year-old twins from Egypt joined at the crown of their heads.

Girls born joined at the top of the head and separated during lengthy surgery were showing daily improvement and being fed intravenously, doctors said today.
