Tropical Storm Ernesto has weakened to a tropical depression as it moves inland over Mexico, killing seven people and dumping rains in the mountains of Mexico’s flood-prone southern Gulf region.

A week of heavy rains unleashed massive flooding in south-eastern Mexico, killing at least one person and forcing tens of thousands to flee the rising waters for shelters in Tabasco and Chiapas states.
