Gun battles and a bomb attack across Afghanistan killed seven Afghan security force members and 15 suspected militants, while police recaptured a district that had been taken over by the Taliban in the volatile south, officials said today.

POLICE retrieved the bodies of four men believed to be Macedonians kidnapped in southern Afghanistan but the convoy carrying the remains was later hit by a roadside bomb yesterday, a provincial governor said.
