A jury at the trial of a Clondalkin man accused of pointing a loaded gun at gardaí has heard that the weapon allegedly recovered from him was “cocked, ready for use” and had its serial number erased.

Judge Michael White has advised that the Director of Public Prosecutions should instigate an investigation into the publishing by Ireland on Sunday of an article giving intricate details of the upcoming trial of a garda accused of possessing child pornography.
