A heroin-addict father of two who told gardaí he hijacked a woman's car with her infant child in it and then tried to rob a pharmacy because he wanted to be returned to prison has been jailed for three years.

A chronic heroin addict who chased a 13-year-old boy wielding a knife and hammer and "terrorised" the boys’ sisters during a burglary has been given a 13-year sentence at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

A 13-year-old boy, whose mother has alleged once tried to run her over while driving a dumper truck, has been remanded into custody after a court heard that he had “treated his bail conditions as a complete joke”.
