A former HSE employee picked up a sharp object and started stabbing himself in the neck when he was first questioned by gardaí about the theft of €55,000 and an attempt to steal another €107,000 from the HSE.

A former HSE employee was brought before Cork District Court yesterday charged with stealing over €55,000 and attempting to steal another €107,000 from the health authority.
