Not so many years ago people in Limerick were annoyed over the way the number of stabbings in the city were being highlighted, but these days there have been stabbings in just about anywhere in the country. There were fatal stabbings in Dublin and Blarney over the weekend, as well as two separate stabbings in Tralee.

Gardaí in Co Mayo are questioning a man in his 20s in connection with the fatal stabbing of Francis Heneghan in Kiltimagh in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A teenager is due in court this morning in connection with the stabbing of a garda in Co. Mayo in the early hours of yesterday morning.
