The sanctity of the parish church in Monageer, Co Wexford, was shattered by a priest who molested 10 girls on the altar as he heard their confessions, the Ferns Inquiry revealed today.

SERIOUS questions remain unanswered now the Catholic Church has settled a legal action with an alleged victim of clerical sexual abuse in a Wexford diocese plagued by allegations, a victims’ group says.

A SEX abuse victim who is suing Bishop Brendan Comiskey and the State in relation to the handling of abuse in the diocese of Ferns will find out today if she can have access to files on the priest at the centre of the scandal.

Victims of clerical abuse in the diocese of Ferns will call for an independent state inquiry into the matter later today.
