Longford champions St. Columba’s created history as they became the first club from the county to reach the Leinster Senior Club Final with a well deserved win over Carlow Champions Eire Og in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

Two goals in the space of two minutes in the opening half proved decisive as Carlow went on to an eight-point victory over Wexford in their Leinster MFC losers’ section at Dr Cullen Park, Carlow, last night.

Galway’s powerful showing in the first period of extra-time dumped the holders, Sligo, out of the Connacht Junior Championship in last night’s quarter-final at Kilcoyne Park, Tubbercurry.
