ROBERT HEFFERNAN is ready to deliver the performance of his lifetime in tomorrow morning’s (7.05 am Irish time) 20k walk, which gets the European Championships under way in Barcelona.

JAMIE COSTIN achieved the qualifying standard for the European championships but there was disappointment for Robert Heffernan and Olive Loughnane who were both disqualified at the Coppa Città di Sesto San Giovanni IAAF Race Walking Challenge on Saturday.

WHEN Valeriy Borchin cruised past the leaders to win the Olympic 20km walk on Saturday, Ireland’s Robert Heffernan could only look on in amazement.

ROBERT HEFFERNAN will train at altitude in South Africa for his next big assignment which is IAAF Race Walking Cup in Cheboksary, Russia, on May 10, following what he described as “a good, strong performance” in Mexico at the weekend.

ROBERT HEFFERNAN ended up ninth in the IAAF Racewalking Challenge — the Grand Prix of Race walking — following what has been a sensational year for the Cork athlete.
