A rural community has been plunged into mourning after three women died in a horror three-vehicle road traffic smash as they travelled home from a holiday.

Overlooking his daughter’s coffin, Olivia Burke’s father Paul showed signs of despair when he said it was the third time he had spoken at a funeral in recent years, writes Ed Carty.

The report by Ed Carty (Irish Examiner, September 2) under the heading “2,400 reports of elderly abuse last year” makes very sad reading but I hope those responsible will be apprehended and brought to justice. Two-thirds ofelderly people feel unwanted, and many of them are right.
