Justice Minister Michael McDowell has poured cold water on the Taoiseach’s call for tougher sentencing in the wake of the murder of Donna Carey in Dublin at the weekend.

Gardaí in Dublin have secured an extra 24 hours to question the two men still being held in connection with the murder of Donna Carey in Coolock over the weekend.
