IMPORTANT documents relating to five bank accounts linked to Bertie Ahern’s constituency organisation were destroyed sometime after 2001, it emerged during yesterday’s hearing of the Mahon Tribunal.

UNTIL recent weeks both treasurers in Bertie Ahern’s Dublin Central constituency did not know exactly how much was in the “B/T” account from which Celia Larkin was loaned IR£30,000, the Mahon Tribunal heard yesterday.

The work of the Mahon Tribunal has been delayed because documents sought from Fianna Fáil's Dublin Central constituency were only produced yesterday.
