British Airways has apologised after an “email error” meant some passengers were wrongly told their flights were cancelled following the announcement that pilots will strike for three days next month.

THE site for next week’s 76th national ploughing championships in Tullamore, Co Offaly, was buzzing with activity yesterday as exhibitors set up their stands and marquees.

UP to 150,000 people are expected to descend on Tullamore after the Offaly town was announced as the venue for the 2007 National Ploughing Championships.
