A 44-year-old Polish man has been remanded in custody after appearing at a special sitting of Loughrea District Court yesterday in relation to the discovery of over €300,000 worth of cannabis herb in Co Galway.

A Brazilian man who was sentenced to life imprisonment for stabbing his flatmate more than 40 times after an argument over her relationships with other men has failed in an appeal against his conviction.
