Fashion guru Dame Vivienne Westwood is to give the Brit Awards a makeover by designing next year’s trophies, it was announced today.

The fashion world was left reeling tonight by the death of celebrated British designer Alexander McQueen.

Jade Goody was given a posthumous "inspiration" award accepted by her friend and publicist Max Clifford.
