The State will pay High Court costs for a challenge to the validity of breathalyser test statements if printed in English only.

A ruling that breathalyser test statements were not valid if printed in the English language only, which had held up 1,400 alleged drink driving prosecutions, has been overturned by the Court of Appeal.

Hundreds of drink-driving cases could be thrown out after the High Court ruled that alcohol test results have to be printed in English and Irish.
