Fianna Fáil have retained the top positions in the new Kerry County Council, with support from Fine Gael and Labour and three independents.

Major celebrations will take place in Valentia Island, Co Kerry today to mark the 160th anniversary of the first cable message sent across the Atlantic.

Irish Water —"the Scarlet Pimpernel" of today — is being asked to appear at quarterly meetings of Kerry County Council, as the Government, particularly Fine Gael, was accused of "making a hames" of it all.
