Permanent TSB mortgage customers who lost their home as a result of the bank’s failings can appeal the amount of compensation offered to them to an independent panel which will include the former deputy financial services ombudsman.

FINANCIAL institutions who are repeatedly the subject of complaints by consumers may be named and shamed, the new financial services ombudsman has threatened.

The Government has created a new Financial Services Ombudsman to pursue complaints against banks and other institutions on behalf of consumers, it emerged today.
