The soap world’s “Oscars” take place tonight, as 'Coronation Street', 'Doctors', 'EastEnders', 'Emmerdale' and 'Hollyoaks' battle it out for gongs.

'Hollyoaks' star Ricky Whittle will make a dramatic exit from the Channel 4 show when his character is shot dead on his wedding day, it was revealed today.

Former chart star Bonnie Tyler said she might struggle to watch her cameo in teen soap Hollyoaks – because her acting makes her cringe.

The stars will be out tonight for the British Soap Awards.
