Apple says mobile software head Scott Forstall and retail chief John Browett are departing as chief executive Tim Cook embarks on a sweeping management overhaul at the world’s most valuable company.

An Apple executive whose responsibilities included iPhone hardware is leaving the company in the wake of antenna problems with the newest version of the smartphone.

Australian national carrier Qantas Airways said today it had accepted a €6.7bn takeover offer from a private equity consortium including the country’s Macquarie Bank and the Texas Pacific Group.
