Somali pirates have kidnapped a French woman from an exclusive resort island in northern Kenya, near the Somali border, according to an official.

A Somali pirate is warning that a kidnapped Danish family will be harmed if any more rescue attempts are made.

The US said today it was considering its response to the hijack by Somali pirates of an American couple sailing the world with a yacht full of bibles.
