Workers at the Vita Cortex plant in Cork are entering their sixth week of a sit-in after almost 12 hours of talks failed to achieve any breakthrough in a stand-off over redundancy payments.

THE Labour Relations Commission (LRC) will chair talks next week in a bid to end the month-long Vita Cortex sit-in.

AS the sit-in by former Vita Cortex employees in Cork enters its 25th day today, details have been finalised of a mass rally in support of the protesters which is due to take place at 1pm in Dublin on Thursday.

UP to 40 workers, who are due to lose their jobs this week, are being deprived of redundancy payments as their employers’ funds have been frozen by the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA).

SIPTU has warned Dairygold there will be no agreement on compulsory redundancies at the co-op.
