The Department of Education has made €11,000 available to install a window in a storeroom being used to teach three children with autism at a new primary school in Cork.

Autism charity Shine’s chief executive has said three special needs children being taught in a windowless store room at a new €4.2m primary school “are being treated like second-class citizens”.

Parents of three children with special needs have said they were horrified to learn the youngsters were being taught in a windowless storage room in a newly opened €4.2m national school in Co Cork.
