SUPERMARKET group Musgrave has been criticised by the Irish Farmers’ Association for trying to cut egg prices with an online auction.

ANGRY pig, poultry and beef farmers demonstrated outside a Tesco outlet in Cavan town yesterday against the low prices being paid to food producers, claiming that their livelihoods are threatened because of mounting losses.

MINISTERS should follow the lead of British Secretary of State for Agriculture Caroline Spelman and defend the interests of the people who elected them, says the IFA.
