CONDITIONS were quite horrible for the final race of the PC Scaffold May Mid Week league at Kinsale, southerly winds of 20 knots gusting, a big swell, poor visibility and rain-like needles to compound the misery.

TWO new boats made their debut in race two of the Frank Godsell March League at Kinsale YC and one of them, Dave Dwyer’s racing machine Mariner's Cove, a Corby 41 sent out plenty of shock waves.

THE mid-summer interlude in West Cork over for another year, racing is back to full swing along the coast and this weekend will be particularly hectic in Cork Harbour, with the Royal Cork holding its annual two-day At Home Regatta.

DESPITE light and variable winds and early tides, 85 boats raced in the Cove SC John McCarthy Motorpoint annual race from Cobh to Blackrock village on the outskirts of Cork City.

FIFTY-THREE boats raced from the Royal Cork at Crosshaven in the inaugural Irish Examiner Round The Island race and the silver salver for the winner went to Sally O'Leary, who helmed Ford Racing.
