Wall Street put aside its concerns about rising oil prices today, giving stocks a late rally as investors focused on generally positive economic news.

Stocks slumped today as oil prices inched back up from earlier lows and an investigation of the insurance industry pressured managed care stocks, trumping better-than-expected earnings from IBM and Texas Instruments.

Investors sent US stocks surging today, propelling the Dow Jones industrials up more than 115 points and into the shadow of 10,000 after a pair of reports showed better-than-expected growth in the manufacturing sector and construction spending.
