The outflow from a main stream channelling treated waste water into one of Killarney’s famed lakes has been found to be “of less than good quality”.

Dairygold has admitted it may be responsible for a pollution incident that led to the death of hundreds, if not thousands of fish, on an East Cork river.

Anglers have expressed fears a river’s salmon and trout stocks will be wiped out by pollution which they claim is possibly emanating from a waste treatment plant and a speciality cheese factory.
